Question : I'M in my late forties and I'm concerned about the brown spots that have been appearing on my body recently. Please advise.
Answer : BROWN spots or age spots may occur due to impaired liver function, overexposure to sun, lack of exercise, indigestion of rancid oil and dietary deficiencies. As we age, our metabolism changes and the liver may become so overloaded with toxins that it cannot efficiently process the toxins or help the body get rid of them. The oxidation process within your body and a lack of antioxidants also play a role in this process. Age spots typically take years to form and eliminating the spots will also take time.
Evening Primrose Oil may help promote a healthy skin. It provides omega-6 for modulation of membrane function. Besides that, supplements of antioxidants may also help improve the condition and reduce the damage done by the free radicals on the skin.
Herbs such as milk thistle and dandelion help to improve liver function by cleansing the liver of dangerous toxins. Dandelion causes an increased flow of bile into the intestines and improve digestion of fats. Silymarin, an antioxidant, can protect the liver of dangerous toxins and stimulate the formation of liver cells.
As a preventive measure, always use a good sunscreen (typical SPF 15). Sunscreen should be applied at least one and a half hours before sun exposure and it should be reapplied frequently. Always wear good large hats, long-sleeved shirts, long skirts or pants, umbrellas, gloves, and any sort of clothing that will help protect your skin.
Avoid smoking, junk food and caffeine because these may worsen the condition.
